I drank alot of Ben Ginter's fabulous draft beer in that place, 1970-72. An article in an October 1970 Toronto Star Weekly described the distance from the front door of the Columbus Hotel to that of the Europe Hotel across 3rd Av. as the most heavily police-patrolled 56 feet of street in Canada! PG was one honking village then! God's mercy be upon the dead, as well as eternal rest!
