The last part of the poem explained - or at least one interpretation. There are at least two different perspectives on that ending but I'll have to save those for another day. THIS is quite enough for the GCSE examiner!

  • surely all three parts should have roughly the same number of views...

    come on people!

  • To be fair, I think that listening to me for half an hour takes some stamina...

  • They had television screens did they? In 39-45? Televisions weren't readilly available in 45!

  • Sorry about that - slip of the tongue. I was a bit put off by the camera... at least I didn't say they had ipods too!

  • @FSXICF couldn't agree more ;)

  • Wow. Been learning these poems for 3 months-don't understand. From you I understand it all in a few hours. You should not teach us English. You should tech the English teachers how to teach English. Great Respect from me, Sir.

  • Mr Davies I had my Paper 2 English GCSE today. I was strong even though my revision was more concentrated on What Were They Like? and Nothing's Changed (my poems in the end were Island Man and Hurricane Hits England). Then I had to compare the METHODS in which they both were presenting feelings, similarities and differences. I only got 1 sim and 1 diff down. I think my Descriptive Writing made for it, I chose "Describe a country in summer and winter". To that I can only say: "God Bless America!"

  • @LichKingSkullWart Oh. That explains a lot! Thanks!
