Male Anorexia aka "Manorexia" (2-9-11)

While seldomly discussed, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia are much higher among gay males than the general population. Many of the pressures faced by young straight women are also faced by gay males. For better or worse, gay male culture is extremely youth and appearance oriented. This not causes problems in young gays, but also older gays. Gay male seniors often complain of isolation and abandonment, leading to depression. In contrast, lesbian are the least focused on appearance and age, when compared to straight men and women, and gay men.

There was an excellent article on the subject in The Journal of Eating Disorders. There have also been some fascinating studies on gay men and physical preferences. For example, one study found that gay men tend to aim for dates who are younger and more attractive (according to a 1-10 scale) than themselves. This matches the strategy of straight men.

I don't take heed to those folks who claim that "this" is an eating disorder. It is a problem to only those who have had experienced "soul" abuse! And that comes in a range of very, very, negatve spectrums. No wonder no one can figure IT out. Go figure - I bet SHAME is the culprit - go figure, as who hasn't felt this disgusting human emotion? Our disgusting emotions haven't been the first of us, so we cope.

In other document this male model was "getting better" and his fridge was full of food. I'm quite shocked that in this document he's dead. Cold slap to the face from anorexia.

I use to have Anorexia but i'v over come it and this video is pretty accurate. i was to the point where i was at the skinniest of boys my age shockingly very low.. 99lbs 5'7 lol

I'm glad i can enjoy food and not feel Guilty anymore and its a very hassling draining disease
