  • Whats the difference between normal hornby and hornby dublo????? Is it the three rails on the tracks????

  • Hi, Hornby Dublo (1936-1964) is the namesake of modern Hornby, manufactured by Meccano of Liverpool and founder Mr Frank Hornby. You had the choice of either 2 rail clockwork or 3 rail electric (12VDC from the centre rail), and later (1959) two rail electric track was introduced. Locos were mostly die cast in metal (mazac) and the rolling stock was tin plate, and later in the Super Detail range plastic was used.

  • what!!!! thats shit, the lead weight is gonna help the train get traction, put it in a trailer them we will c how good it is

  • Hi, that's exactly the point I'm making (to members of a Hornby group) That the Hornby Dublo Loco has plenty of power, in it's original condition And dosn't need a super-neo magnet, as traction is the limiting factor. Ron

  • Wow! If that was a real train, how long would it be, how long would it take to walk from the first coach to the last coach, and if I bought some tea in the buffet car would it still be hot when I got back to my seat in the last coach??!!

  • Hi nssuk, Very interesting questions. So, 1935 feet or 0.273 of a mile long, and at an average walking speed of 20 mins/mile, it would take a little under 5.5 minutes, unless you stop to buy that cuppa! As for the temperature of that tea. Was it in a standard BR 1960's issue tea cup, or was it in the BR (2nd class)mug? and do you take milk & sugar? Don't answer that,(don't have a BR cup and would have to guess anyway) Glad you enjoyed the vidio, all the best Ron.

  • Good Answer ...I think its better not to have a cuppa as probably spill it. Great railroad.
