Are the recent knife crime murders in the capital something we should all worry about or is it just related to gang members? - If its something we should all worry about... what are we going to do about it?

I don't want the UK to change its gun laws just yet.

You are currently making an excellent example to what gun control leads.

All crime figures except murder are now higher for the UK than the US.

I am just waiting for the UK to break that last mark.

Nationmaster states that the US has the 4th highest murders globally at 9,369 with the UK at 39th with 14. We also have the 3rd highest prosecution rate... so we are fixing any problems that you percieve that we have.

Anyway this conversation is going around in circle... you obviously have some sort of fascination with guns to know so much about them. Im sick of Europeans hitting at th UK... immigrants walk THROUGH mall most Europeans countries to get to our shores so it cant be that bad.

Well the rate is not yet reached US levels... but I will look out for people being murdered in the streets!

According to Nationmasters the amount of murders per 100 000 is this:

United States: 4.2

United Kingdom: 1.4

20 years ago this was:

United States: 8

United Kingdom: 0.1

That jus proves that the UK isnt as violent as the US... granted the gap has closed, but meh. Its probably repeated all over the world/europe. Look at Australias crime rates if you want to pick on a country.

1)knife crime is here to stay I am sorry to say there is no way of getting rid of it. I myself am not in to crime but there are people out there who are just out for them self. never mind the us with there gun law because there is no way everyone should be able to carry a gun that's stupid and out of date get with the times. violence will not solve anything knifes are so ready available due to the fact we use them in everyday life (try living with out one for a week a bet you find it hard).

it seems that this subject hasent been looked into enough .. im 16 and ive had a friend loss from knife crime and i think its discusting that after so many deaths from it the government still havent done anything

??? A few posts ago I gave the numbers for violent crime (rape, murder, assault, robbery, etc).

Those figures (given by the European commision) are 4 times higher in the UK than the US.

So how can you say the UK is less violent than the US???

Only because you focus on murder and neglect all other violent crimes?

Ask yourself this question:

Imagine you are a poor thug with no morals and have whathever weapon you choose (knife, gun, club, etc)

Are you going to rob/kill someone in the street in pre-WWII UK knowing that a majority of the gentlemen on the street are carrying a revolver and might react/defend.

Are you going to rob/kill someone in the street in present day UK knowing that no-one on the street is armed and consequently cannot react/defend.
