The whole point of combos is so that your opponent can't block in the middle of it.

I hate getting the american versions of bleach ds, they change a bunch of stuff in the game, so I just stick with the japanese versions :D

The problem with being crazy awesome at combos in a fighting game is that you can only do them in training. A real or even computer opponent wouldn't let you go crazy on them without breaking your attack sequence.
And to add to that, as your combo stacks up, attacks become less and less powerful, making the effort behind lengthy combos meaningless and unnecessary. Its more cost effective to perform many 10-15 hit combos than 2 or 3 50+ hit ones.

@SinsHarvist: Actually this is standard fare for BDS. One of the best features but also an annoyance for you opponent is long combos are actually good. Mayuri can basically do an infinite for 30 seconds until you die, at least until he hits you enough you get stock for a burst. But this Ikkaku combo? Almost every initial hit you land can and should transfer into some part of this.

@foxdemonfreak: I use the touchscreen for supers, it's just faster. But specials, not point, just wastes RF.

jH comes out only a frame slower and has a much bigger hitbox and keeps the opponent is hitstun longer, so I prefer it by far. It's actually possible to do both, but the dd-L specials would have to be left out as they'd push you back too far reducing the total damage.
