Scripture actually points out the standard for being a priest to be the husband of one wife, because he has to be a strong leader in the community (I Timothy, Chapter 3) 2) A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3) Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4) One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity.

@illuminatitv You just choose which verses to follow and which ones not to follow. I like that idea. "God said it, but only half meant it. He would probably be cool with me doing it because he only mentioned it once. The serious stuff is mentioned a few times." What a crock. You and so many other bible thumpers just pick and choose and condemn everyone who doesn't interpret the same way you do. And what makes you think that all liberals are hypocrite? You annoy me so much. But its fun. continue.

@illuminatitv Liberals calling you a hypocrite is "doubly (maybe even triple) ironic". So you're calling all liberals hypocrites because...? Do you want to give a few examples there or should I take your word as gospel?

Leviticus 24:16 "Anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death."
I thought that was against the 10 commandments...my bad?

@6MemoryOfForever9 What version is that? Not wanting to get too technical, but in the original greek, Episkopos is used, not overseer. Deacons are still part of a priesthood, and in the Ancient church, there were defined Bishops, Elders (priests, who acted in the stead of the Bishop when not there), and Deacons. That is the Apostolic tradition.
Thanks! Btw, I use the NKJV.

You know, there's nothing in the Bible (neither in the New nor Old testament) saying that in a marriage both husband and/or wife must be over 18 years of age. In fact, for most of its history Christian Europe had quite a low marriageable age; in 13th century England the age of marriage was 12! Tell me Molotov, do you thinks that having a 30 year old man marry a 12 year old woman is ok simply because there's no Biblical condemnation against it?

1 Corinthians 7:2-4
'Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.'
OT still applies where not abrogated by new. No plurals in scriptures pasted above. (from New Testament). You tell me.

In the Bible marriage is given as a picture of Jesus and the church. That is why there cannot be woman - woman 'marriage' (the church cannot submit to itself) and man - man 'marriage' (Christ cannot die for himself). This is also why there should not be polygamy - Jesus only died for one church (broad sense used here, not a specific denomination). Therefore when one studies the whole of Scripture, one can only conclude with Jesus (Mark 10:7) that 2 (not 3 or 4...) shall become one.
Oh and Hey Molotov, here's my 'crafty liberal' pose to you: it appears that you have a tattoo.
Leviticus 19:28 says, "You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord."
It appears you have just done what you were asking those other bible thumpers not to do..."don't go and march for (in this case the bible) if you have not been diligent, christian enough to memorize it"
Right back at you pal. I love hypocrits.

@Balsology
Molotov here: You libs LOVE this argument, as if you think it's a silver bullet, LOL. I addressed the "tattoo" misnomer in a FTR several weeks ago. Check it out, you might learn something.
BTW, liberals calling me a "hypocrit" is doubly (maybe even triply) ironic ;)
