Students of Chatham University smile for Mayor Ravenstahl and members of City Council in opposition to the still-standing 1% tuition tax. - created at http://animoto.com
@Moldytoaster3000, sorry it takes more money and effort to move then to stay put. I also have access to a variety of theater, fine arts, and music unlike anywhere else in the country. Pittsburgh's history is very rich and the culture is quite diverse. I'm not about to give up and leave because some jerk wants to tax me for an education that is my right.
no it shouldn't. The city pension fund is only in debt about 15 million. And the mayor wants to cover for the debt there by taxing the students. However, the mayor isn't telling a straight story. He took money out of the fund of another charity and lied about how much the colleges really contribute each year. Then there is all other things that the colleges and students do for the city. It's pretty involved, I'd suggest you go research before making more brash accusations.
they have to pay somebody for every change they make genus. Even if it isn't the bus system. Go do your research before you come spouting off. I'm not talking about starting from the beginning. Just some management changes and have different people running things. And as for the taxes, I'd rather not pay double taxes if I have too. I'm on a pretty lean budget as is.
You are ignorant. First of all, nobody elected Ravenstahl the first time around. Bob O'Conner died of a brain tumor and Luke had to assume the role of mayor. Third, the election results were quite close. And I didn't vote for him. He's a jerk. And yes 4 out of the 9 members are still fighting for it but that is not a majority.
this is the wrong way to go about it. Ravenstahl just wants to take the easy way out. He didn't even research the tax before he proposed it. It isn't even legal for one thing. The bus system could be reworked a lot and save a ton of money for starters. this was a very dumb idea.
this is just one thing we all are doing. youtube is one way to spread the news. If you throw the vidoe all over the web and then have a news crew there at the time these photos were taken then it counts for something.
