BP ROV Struggles With Connector

This doesn't show anything terribly important, but it illustrates why it is taking so long for BP to finally kill their nightmare well. I'm reminded of the section of 2001: A Space Odyssey where Dr. Floyd is being flown to the lunar base. It takes ten times longer than it should, it's ridiculously slow and boring in the movie.

Underwater it takes the ROV operator 10 minutes to plug in a tiny hose, something that would take 5 seconds if done by human hands. The video starts with the ROV farther down the well stack, where it had been monitoring yet another oil leak (see my previous upload), then rises to a connector box and attempts to plug in a tiny hose. BP should never have been allowed to drill a well at that depth.

And for all you physicists out there, can you explain why such a tiny hose is not crushed at a depth of 4927 feet? That's 2204.09 pounds per square inch of pressure. Or how the larger hose, floating vertically to the left side of the screen in the final minutes, which appears to be made of either plastic or rubber is not crushed?

Anyone seen Capricorn One? Another great old movie. Go rent it.

This vid has some aggravating effect! Seein'the primitive procedures of beepee, that simply cannot understand the delicacy of such deep sea operations. For instance: this angling with loops of ropes as if they are fishing. A loop may hook on the wrong lever which may start a spouting mess. Then what!? Also demonstrated is the type of wellhead utilized. Obviously the obsolete type, still with a funny face robot head on a slender neck and a hand that can scratch its head. Cud it stop a leak? No!

No apology for beepee possible. Their failures accumulated into one conclusion: that most of it was done more or less on purpose. If working in the deep is so difficult, why didn't they prepare themselve properly. But no, they just purchased a heap of scrap junk no one would wanna touch, painted it green and yellow and proclaimed themselves boastingly the king of the deep drillerz.

Meanwhile won in plain sight of the whole world the prize for spillerz. Logical outcome when venturing with cheap.
