On April 2nd 2006 Michael Sandler was in a near death accident. As he was skating down a bike path a father teaching his baby how to walk, stepped out in front of him and Michael jumped up and back and avoided hitting the baby. He shattered his femur, hip, and arm, and later found out shards of femur were less than a centimeter from his femoral artery, or a centimeter from death. Luckily his leg was saved, but with a titanium femur and hip (and near 1 inch leg-length discrepancy) Michael struggled to recover until he discovered barefoot running. Today he runs 10-20 miles a day barefoot. He is author of "Barefoot Running: How to Run Light and Free by Getting in Touch with the Earth" and now travels the world teaching people how to run barefoot. www.BarefootRunningBook.com
He now refers to the accident as a gift.
any one noticed that he is talking in SHOE STORE :)

@BornBarefooted1971 I doubt many of his clients have a trained eye enough to spot those features, and even if they did, those finiky postural cues are far outweighed by the real fundamentals of Bf running: high cadence, landing close to the center of gravity, and proprioceptive/environmental awareness. I think he does those three pretty well for a guy with an inch leg length discrepancy

Anybody else seeing how Mr Sandler's head-neck-back relationship is way out of natural alignment? His problem is that over the years he has developed - possibly due to the cycling training - an excessive kyphosis in his upper back and, if possible, even worse lordosis in his neck. He's also pulling his shoulders towards his ears when his bare feet get pinched by sharp objects: not a nice thing to watch from the professional barefoot running coach. He should get some Alexander Technique lessons!

Solo aquel que se atreve a probar elandar y correr descalso de nuevo, descubre el mundo que por el calzado habia olvidado que existia....... si el pudo correr despues de lo que le paso fue por hacer ejercicio de la forma en que dios nos diseño.
