Maya Kodnani, a minister in the Narendra Modi government accused of instigating a mob during the Anti-Muslim Gujarat riots of 2002, claims she is innocent. Kodnani was declared an absconder by a Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team on February 2. She, along with Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Jaideep Patel, is wanted for Naroda Patiya riots, one of the most infamous cases of the post-Godhra riots. Speaking exclusively with CNN-INDIA, Kodnani said she was innocent but will not reveal details of her whereabouts. [02:52 hrs IST]

@SinghMankaran what happened in 1984 was a reaction to indira's assasination. im not trying to excuse the riots, im just explaining what occured. congress today doesnt go out and scapegoat sikhs, or anyone else for political power. bjp not only scapegoats minorities, it does it to muslims, xtians, and others. in other words its basically against any semetic faith that originates from the middle east, making them anti-semites.

@SinghMankaran but its all the more reason why india's minorities have to work together to secure our rights. believe it or not, but prime minister singh is actually very popular among india's Muslim community. because he hails from a minority community. but i respect the man for his economic genius during his tenure as a minister which opened up india's economy from state socialism.
