I bought a Canon Vixia hf200 a few months back and wanted to do some test shots with it. My canon powershot sd960 has always had panning and tracking problems (stuttering/flicker), so I did some test comparisons between the two.

The editing software I use is Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack. I render them under Sony AVC in an MP4 format. I have to input the resolution to 1280 by 720 and set the bit rate to at least 10,000,000. This file is 425MB. Not very big.

  • I'll do a quick one and make it a response to this one. Cloudy days don't show much color, espesially over the water.

  • Would like to see hoe the Canon shoots on a clear day, the clors seemed a little washed out, what do you think?

    LazyMan :-)

  • Bellingham Washington. The 1st shots are of Bellingham bay. The second shots are the channel between Lummi Island and the Lummin reservation. I wasn't sure if the video would catch what I was seeing. I couldn't decide if I liked the cine mode off or on with the hf200.

  • I like the hf200 looks much more natural and smooth. just curious where r u located its a beautiful video.
