@MrAsaph1960 Billy truly is a great visionary poet! His greatness is more recognized across the water than here, Americans tend to undervalue the intrinsically American. I love literature written in the vernacular, Heathcliff's Yorkshire & Huck Finn's Missouri drawl, etc. Billy's truth is as pure & straight as Twain's & he's as elegant as Coleridge & as funny as the finest Irish limericks! Those who recognize TRUE ART have loved him forever & the other greats always have too! God bless BJS!!!

I guessed that (I live in England) A friend got me a listening to Billy Joe's music, and I tell you it grows on you. He is, in my view, a great visionary poet, and he gets the best musicians too....I love "get thee behind me satan" and "If I give my soul"....Billy Joe's is the most hair raising, honest, generous, authentic, attractive (and funky) music I heard for a long time. I guess he is a tough act to follow.....
