Lisa is broad Lancashire, Rochdale in fact.

Classic track. I see mentions of Sade on this thread. Not in the same league, although hats off to Stuart who provided the sax on those classic hits. xx

You mention Sade......You have Class and Taste. And you are American......?. Lol!. Not normally a mix at all.

@stiglaa Again, there's a misunderstanding here. I'm well aware of the basics of the British/UK and American historical connection, but thanks for that insight. I'm not talking about the way Lisa sounds in normal dialog/speech, I'm talking about how she including Sade among others sound like the singers from here when singing (vocals) after all it's an influence of music that originated in the states. =)

I forgive you for all you do not know yet. Look back into history and find out where the basis of the "American" accent came from. You may be suprised to track it down to a English accent, which consisted of English, Irish and Scottish. Look up "Pilgrims". So its no suprise she may sound American at times, but she is broad Yorkshire.

@stiglaa There's a misunderstanding here. I'm not dissing her in anyway just saying that obviously smoking cigarettes is never good for singing and it possibly altered her voice prematurely. I actually like some of Lisa's music but I do think that she sounds American when (singing) and you can tell, after all her musical influences are from here. by the way, I actually think the British accent can be kinda cool. =)

Lisa Stansfield sounds American to you?. Not from where I am. I am glad that smoking is the only thing that has changed her voice, then again it could be her voice getting better with age, unlike your Whitney Houston etc, with their drug abuse.
Stiglaa.
Her vocals match her face. Truly original beauty and soulful voice. This is what you call beautiful "LISA STANFIELD".

You don't hear live vocal performances like this these days, and if you do, it's very rare.
