@monireh95 I agree, but I don't think these quotes in this vid do that definition any justice. What you have said though is exactly what magnanimity entails.
@Xadreos, The quotes says "The beginning of magnanimity is ...." some of the current social problems are due to the fact that those who appear to be magnanimous have forgotten the basic of magnanimity which is what the quote is suggesting. It has to start from the basic unit of society. what percentage of the world population can see it the way you see it? The purpose has been to bring the human race to spiritual and moral maturity to see the world as one family and the planet as one dwelling.
The code of Geneva is an example of Altruism. It's looking out for your fellow human, regardless of race, gender, colour, or belief, it's not killing them upon capturing your enemy, even though they would not grant you the same respect. That is magnanimity at it's best, not this.
Helping others who you are in need despite their flaws or differences from yourself is true magnanimity, not simply those who happen to follow your personal philosophy.
@danieldemol Being able to spend money on clothes and such is grand, but it is not great or magnanimous or even deserving of praise, it's mediocre at best. It's like saying you should buy your child many gifts because they cleaned their own room: if they do something to maintain THEM SELF that is selfish, not selfless. You're looking out for yourself, not someone else. If you help those in your own religion, then you are being bigoted, because you are looking out only for those of similar belief
@Xadreos "How is spending money on one's self and one's family any less than greed?"
When you spend money to feed yourself and your family, to clothe yourself and your family, and to shelter yourself and your family remind me to ask you the same question.
Ya, but none of those quotes were wise, not one. None of those quotes would be smart for any modern day person to follow. That all seemed to be a bunch of religious garbage pushing across their ideals. You want some wisdom? Here:
"It ain't the parts of the bible that I can't understand that bother me. It's the parts that I do understand."- Mark Twain
"When I was a child I had an imaginary friend to whom I talked. Then I grew up and became an atheist" - Unknown
thanks bro

Jesus said
none is good but GOD ONLY
go and sell all you have then follow CHRIST
the heavens declare the Fathers Glory
but Jesus also said
NO come to the Father but BY Jesus CHRIST the YaHshUah
all other religions even Jews say just do good and be right in all your ways and you will get to the Father
but the Father said Your Righteousness is as FILTHY RAGS
you need CHRIST because His Righteousness is A True DOOR and PERFECT GATE He takes you into the FATHERKINGDOM with Him.
