@mrfester42 I guess you did not understand what I said. The north tower was hit close to the heavy lead weight that counterbalance movement due to wind, soften its steel causing the weight to push down all the floors, if it were hit much lower floor it could be stand there till this day because the amount of fuel did not soften the beans right away like the south tower that was softened faster making the building collapse by shear(cutting) effect.LEAD WEIGHT TO COUNTERBALANCE WIND got it !

@Verdelufe The towers didn't collapse because of a weight overload. They collapsed because the fire got hot enough to soften and thereby weaken the steel support structure.

I heard that there was a huge lead weight on the top to couterbalance the effect of strong winds, the building used to move 1.5 to 3 feet maybe more on the North Tower. If the plane hit few floors below it might never collapse because the beams that support the weight would not be weak. The South Tower fell faster due to the amount of fuel the plane spread all over the beams and columns very fast making the total weight above the building cause a shear effect right where the plane hit.
