Great reaction at the end. The jumps she did were fabulous. My only critique is I thought the choreography got a little repetitive towards the end, but what a great performance for her.

@pooguy77 Just seen your post and wow... you are SO right about her flip... it is the perfect "toe-salchow", which is of course what it is meant to be, and that's why it looks like it comes out of nowhere, it doesn't look "telegraphed" like so many other skaters. Thank you for pointing this out!

@mlc2005 she was placed 3rd in the long. She lost the bronze since she was only 5th in the short and Soldatova was 2nd. If she skated a clean short she would have placed atleast 2nd in the short and won the silver overall easily (even with a 3rd place in the long). Kwan was gifted and held up bigtime in the short program anyway.

@foresure88 please. Maria landed 7 triples and her artistry was light years better. She was only 3rd in the long program behind even a subpar Michelle Kwan.

If she was placed in the top 3 after the short program she would have shocked the world by winning the title.

@sk8princess3 The program was incredible. But she was 5th in the short program. It would be soo difficult for her from the 5th to the 1st. At least, this incredible program still is in our eyes. Bad judging continue in ice skating but programs like that pervived in time.

It was nice for her to keep this program another year. She must have known its protential. I think she was really the bronze medal place here. This is one of the performances in history that can be used for skating students learning perfect jumping technique and result.

Silver Medal! 5-4 Split lost to Kwan for the Silver. SO CLOSE!

Complicated for her to get the bronze, due to the Soldatova over rank in the SP.

If I had to rate these in the GOE system, I would give her so many ++++, perfect text book classic jumps.

Lutz is huge and correct edge. Flip, coming from a Toe-Salchow technique is so rare no adays. Her toe and axle jumps are amazing as well. We just don't see jumps like this anymore...

That is awesome. Though she miss the podium unfairly by a hair, the judges did give her credit of having the best jumps in terms of Quality, Speed, and Technique.

Malinina should have been FIRST in her QP of Butyrskaya, ahead of Kwan in the SP, and Rank 2nd not 3rd in the FP.

Anyone one of those scenario's would have sealed a medal for Malinina.
