why would you need heat in the summer????

i wondering if some gas eg.argon in the box would not be helpfull with efficient

Hey man, I'm loving the vid. Just moved to Japan and looking forward to building one of these things.
Great video-- pour some sugar on me-- awesome addition!
Keep doing' what your doing'.

also wondering the dynamic of cooler winter air on cooling the core on a winter day and how that would affect (lower) the continuous temperature you'd be able to extract from the core.

This looks like a neat idea, but I wonder what the heat you would achieve would be (compared to 210 deg) on a winter day when you really need that heat. seems like the idea has potential, but just wondering what kind of heat you got out of it from a weaker winter sun and how much space you've been able to heat with it?
wow, really?
Sometimes youtube is really cool to show people stuff...but sometimes this is what it comes to...teaching common sense.
why would you need heat in the summer?!...come on !
there is a switch to turn the unit off when winter is over or you dont want it on anymore.

Those 3/4" connectors don't have enough air flow. I wasted 2 days with this design and when my 120 cfm computer fan wouldn't blow through to the end I stuck a 750 cfm AC fan through it....nothing. Not enough air to blow a kleenex. I was so pissed off that I ran to the hardware store and bought 1" connectors...still fuck all. I'm out.
Maybe if you used 2" connectors it would flow ok but in my opinion, the whole thing was too much work for the money. Stick with beer cans.

yup, thats an old video bud. watch some of the new ones. We now mass produce 100 of our commercial heat panels per month. That video was a myth-buster style poke of fun at back yard builders and beer can inventors. Yes they can work, yes we used other materials to try and achieve a better result, but bottom line, we have perfected the true heat panel systems and can do it for less than what anyone at home can. Thats the power of persistance and mass production, thats why you shop at walmart

please check out all my videos of the solar hot air panels on here. our final versions have all tested out at 150-220 degrees max. taking in 8 degree air on one video it still produced 150 degrees. normally you pull inside air into the unit so it will put out 200. our new production units come in 3x4 or 3x8. they easily heat 400-800 sf areas.

Great idea and clear explanation, thank you for that; I still need to finish my pop-can heater.
The problem in Mexico City is that hardly anyone has central heaters and people do not believe solar air heaters save money on that electrical heaters that rockets their electricity bills in the winter.
Actually only two months would be worth having the panel, in the summer you had better cover it.
Instead you can use solar cookers / ovens and boilers.
Regards from Mexico

@321ozzy
thank you. solar heat panels are some of the most efficent uses of solar there is.
