Machinima Script Contest

***Official Contest Rules****

1. Scripts are to be e-mailed to MachinimaScripts@gmail.com before Monday June 7th at 11:59pm PST.

2. Accept file formats are: .doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt, .celtx, .pdf. Scripts typed into the message window, or not in one of the following formats will not be accepted.

3. Target length for scripts is under five minutes. Very long scripts, however good, will not be accepted.

4. Limit of three entries per person. Seriously, if you have a lot just send your best three. If more than three files are sent in one e-mail, none of them will be accepted.

5. The script is to be designed around either the Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2 engines. Scripts requiring other engines will not be accepted.

6. Do not write a script for a pilot episode of a series. We are not making a series, just a short. Pilots will not be accepted.

7. By sending an e-mail to this address, you grant us (Machinima and/or Euphorian Films) permission to contact you about your script. This will be our only contact point for you, so please use an e-mail address that you check frequently. We will not spam you in any way.

8. By sending in an script you grant Euphorian Films and its parent company Machinima the rights to use it. We are not going to steal or cheat anyone out of a script. We intend only to use the winning script. The rest will be deleted when the contest is over to ensure that nobody's intellectual content is endangered.

9. Beligerant, racist, homophobic, or otherwise hateful scripts will not be accepted. Violence, dirty humor, and the like are fine. There is a fine line between cheeky and hateful.

10. The best script will be judged by Euphorian Films as a whole. We have no set metric or standard by which to judge. This is purely a taste decision our part. Disputes will be ignored.

11. The winner will be announced one to two weeks after the contest is over. This will come in the form of an announcement video that will contain a preview of the film, and a few links to the winner's site if they want.

12. There is no set date for the release of the machinima that we make you. Each script, and thus each project, will be different and have different requirements. We will say that it should take about a month but can't make any promises.

13. The script cannot contain any copyrighted material. This includes: extensive quoting of other works, plagarized writing, characters from other shows, copyrighted music, copyrighted images, or stolen plot lines. You guys have to play by the same rules we do.

14. Last but not least, if the files don't pass a virus scan, they won't be opened. Very seriously.

**Suggestions**

1. Scripts calling for extensive special effect work are likely to be frowned upon. That stuff is expensive and takes a long time.

2. Scripts requiring more than four main characters are also not a good idea. Its hard to do in Halo 3, hard to do in Modern Warefare 2, and voice actors are expensive.

3. We truly are impartial to all genres, so feel free to hit us with anything. Seriously, it can be ANYTHING. Just take a look at all videos we've put out in the past.

4. Please use proper grammer and spelling. Poor English can ruin great ideas.

5. Not everyone is familiar with script format, so we aren't too picky on that. Just be consistant with whatever you send. It helps a lot.

6. Remember, this is about quality. Just because you can send three scripts doesn't really mean you should. We are looking for the absolute best here. Take your time and do it right!

7. Have fun! If this isn't fun, it isn't worth your time or ours!
