Also last thing, have you tried the Irish tin whistle, as I also have Irish ancestors along the line, I picked it up, lovely little instrument. Had a few dreams about them white ancestors coming to me too in a good way. I dont play or do things that are not culturally appropriate, as honouring others culture is honouring myself and living my beliefs but thats my decision. Anyways good luck with your walk sister :)

Hello you are a great player. I wanted to respond to the comment about gender, honouring spiritual traditions is not about gender bias or being ignorent, if you have a strong belief in culture, ancestors and the spirituality of the old people then you give something to show your belief. Sometimes that means giving somthing up or giving something to others and it is understood in the spirit world. Thats a personal journey and decision.

Screw those male egotisitical comments, U play beautifully. I'd love to introduce U formely to my listners on fb. What's your name? First only if U feel uncomfortable. Oh yeah and ENCORE!

Thanks for sharing your power with us, just before it cut off at the end I was standing within the Grass Nation again, gently flowing with life, at peace.

@PrairieGhostVideo Thats the amazing thing about the native flutes, there really is no other way to play. Sheet music tends to dull the spirit of the music in the native flute. Wonderfull playing by the way.

This flute was made by Charlie Oakwind, and it's my favorite of the three I own. :3
is there a way you could post the fingering charts or tell me where i could get them for this song?

Unfortunately, I tend to make up my songs as I go, so there's no fingering charts for them.

If you are Native American then you know that females DO NOT play the wooden flute only males.

Traditionally, the men played the flute to woo the woman of their attention. It was said that a young warrior who was too shy to confess his feelings to a beautiful maiden went into the forest to hunt an elk--a source of powerful love medicine--but as he pursued the elk, he became lost in the woods. As he wandered, he heard a haunting sound that drifted on the wind, and found a hollow branch that hand been bored by a woodpecker, the wind whistling through the many holes.

The young man cut it down and tried to duplicate the sound he heard, but couldn't. Frustrated, he fell asleep, and in his dreams the woodpecker returned and taught him how to make the flute. This is why wooden flutes are traditionally adorned with woodpecker fetishes. If you're wondering, the warrior did win his girl's heart with the power of the flutesong... but of course, you already knew that.

you're advancing quite fast little sister. big difference from last year's video. been making, playing and teaching NAF's for 10 years. you have enough spirit in your heart that you need never play another person's song. your heart is already overflowing with an unlimited supply. you're still a bit hesitant to push the limits. don't be scared to make your flute scream and screech. there are no wrong notes when it comes from your heart. may you continue to be blessed.

thanks very much for the comment. I have actually been playing for several years, but when I did the first video, I was a little disconnected from myself. I'm beginning to pick the flutes up more now, and the music is flowing a little more readily.
