Global Terrorism Analysis Expert: Sri Lanka's First Citizen was told that he was no longer wanted at the Oxford Union, and that too after he had reached the UK. And then, as if to insult Sri Lankans' level of intelligence, the mighty British claimed that the speech was cancelled because they "couldn't guarantee adequate security" for the President. http://www.nation.lk/2010/12/05/inter.htm

British Govt is to introduce amendments to its Universal Jurisdiction Law so that the approval of a top prosecutor or even that of the Attorney General is needed before making an arrest of a foreign leader. Some groups with links to questionable organizations try to abuse the law to fulfil their own agenda. Such a move would be a slap in the face for the extremist elements in the Tamil Diaspora who are hell bent on abusing the laws of European countries to further their cause. http://www.asiantribune.com/news/2010/12/04/universal-jurisdiction-bill-be-am...

Tamil Diaspora has brough huge disgrace to their motherland, Sri Lanka and to the national leader who has saved Tamil people from oppression of LTTE for the last 30 years despite the unintended civilian casualties. After 30 yrs of war North & East is being rapidly developed, and those who protested Mahinda Rajapaksa TODAY will regret themselves TOMORROW how ungrateful they were. On the other hand, it showed how unhospitable nation was Britain as host country to a visiting state leader. In both instances we can it is a SHAME and far from CIVILIZATION!

The visiting Sri Lanka President who was invited by Oxford University to deliver a lecture tomorrow (Thursday 2, Dec 2010)has been cancelled due to security concerns. Another embarrassment to UK for failing to give protection for a state leader. Mean while WikiLeaks has published Milibands strategies to get 300,000 Tamil votes in Britain ( http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/david-miliband-called-for-sri-la... ) and US memo which accuses Sri Lanka President of war crimes according Patricia Butenis the US Ambassador in Sri Lanka indicating a clear threat to Sri Lanka. She has sent a cable to USA saying 2:19 "There are no examples we know of a regime undertaking wholesale investigations of its own troops or senior officials for war crimes while that regime or government remained in power." 2:37 In Sri Lanka, this is a further complicated by the fact that responsiblity for many of the alleged crimes rests with the country's senior civilian and military ladership, including President Rajapaksa and his brothers and opposition candidate General Fonseka"

The answer given to Channel4 News Jonathan Miller By Minister G.L. Pieris Foriegn Minister Sri Lanka at media Briefing during visit to Britain with President Rajapaksa:

Q (Jonathan Miller, Channel 4): Why has the Government not allowed an independent investigation into the alleged war crimes? Why have members of the UN investigating team been barred from entering Sri Lanka?

A: We have put in place the necessary measures that are most appropriate for Sri Lanka

The LLRC has written to organisations, such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the International Crisis Group inviting them to testify, in order for us to ascertain the truth. On the issue of the latest footage released [by Channel 4] of alleged atrocities, Professor Peiris pointed out that the timing of the releases has been purposefully scheduled to coincide with key events, e.g. meeting regarding the GSP+ facility, his (the minister's) meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Hague in October, and now on the eve of President Rajapaksa's visit to the Oxford Union. It was always aimed at attacking Sri Lanka, but the material is not verified, authenticated and the sources not revealed. All of this can be placed before the LLRC.
