Look I play and sing accoustic blues myself and can not understand why other white people feel the need to put on a "black voice" to sing it. Ask yourself this; when Son House or who ever sang a blues did they thing "Oh shit I better put on my black voice". No he just did his stuff.

Bob Brozman is another one who does the "I better put on my black voice" thing. Why???

this cat was a heroin addict and raging alcoholic for years, his voice is GENUINE!!! check out his book " Miracles for breakfast" to see where his blues roots come from, its an epic read! This guys voice is much deeper than skin color! One of the hidden gems in music today!!!

@AusDavid12 It's just another style of singing. Amy Winehouse did a wonderful "black voice". But yeah, smoking gives you the raspiness. A blues guy don't have to sell his soul to the devil, but he gotta smoke. ;-) tongue-in-cheek.
