Star Wars Galaxies Users Sue Sony

Hey guys welcome to Clevver Games I'm Andrea Rene here with the latest on Star Wars Galaxies! If you've been watching our videos I'm sure you saw the news that the long running MMO has been shut down. Well, not yet, but it will be come December 15th. And it appears that the fans are NOT happy about this.

According to Venture Beat, a number of Star Wars Galaxies players have written saying they want to file a lawsuit against Sony Online Entertainment. Wow that is some Star Wars nerd dedication! But clearly, the didn't read that lengthy end-user license agreement they had to accept before playing.

It states that Sony can terminate the agreement and shut down the game at their discretion. And because they are doing just that, Sony has said they will refunded pro-rated subscription fees after October 15th. Plus, to try and ease the pain a little more, they will even operate the game for free until it ends.

But don't dismay Star Wars Galaxies fans, there is still a chance for you to take action! A petition called 'Do Not Permanently Shut Down Star Wars Galaxies' asks Sony Online Entertainment to experiment with alternatives to shutdown including make the game free-to-play. Last I heard there were close to 3,000 signatures. But come on guys, the new BioWare MMO, The Old Republic is almost here and it looks EPIC! So I say give it up, and get ready for a new adventure.

soe cannot re-open swg even if they wanted to. lucas arts has them by the testicles. i played swg back in the day and even tho i didnt play it full time since the start it hurt pretty bad to see it close down. swg had some amazing mechanics that no other games ever seemed to pick up on.

i have play swg ever since it was made i was 6 at the time so i kinda grew up with it. so to see that it closed down broke my heart into 90 millon bits. and i got really mad when she said to give it up. and i know the old republic will never be the same
