This is a combination of a pressure sensitive fabric with a fabric that contains electroluminescent fibers. Everything is controlled by an Arduino board that senses the pressure sensitive fabric. By pressing it you can turn the light on or off.

  • can you share some details on this project?

  • This is a combination of two fabrics. A tubular fabric with embedded EL wire and a pressure sensitive fabric. The pressure sensitive fabric is inserted inside the tubular fabric. When both fabrics are pressed EL fibers are turned on and off. Everything is controlled by an Arduino microcontroller.

  • @TheMathGuy You could knit el wire, but they have pretty large bending radius. Consider at least 3 mm. Maybe hand knitting.. There is a new version on plugandwear page on flickr

  • This is pretty cool! One thing I've always been curious about is whether or not it's possible to knit with EL wire. How tight a radius of curvature can the wire be bent into? Because if it's small enough, you could literally knit a garment OUT OF the wire!

  • great, superb

  • thank you - it is very cool!
