@vjfrock That is true, Canada didn't have Slavery, but the Slaves that were lucky enough to escape fromthe U.S made their way to Canada for the sake of freedom. Nevertheless, the point was that good music is timeless, and it has a mind, body, and soul; meant to be enjoyed by the rest of the world!

@neveralone1975 No such thing as slaves in CANADA,we are truley free brother!

@sfritzen Exactly!

You left out some very important points. The Stones brought the blues back to America, in 1964, which allowed the Blues masters you mentioned to restart their careers and make good livings in the US. Study your history, and get the full story!

The Slaves from Africa that were brought to America, Canada, Central America, and South America gave birth to the rhyhm and drumbeats, but it is a persons experiences that givve life to any words put to a song. So if you feel the spirit or praying the Holy Ghost- Music is a timeless expession of the mind, body, and soul!

All this shit about who stole what, it's all so friggin' irrelevant. Dig the blues! The man's possessed. Awesome.

@vanzeposmith910 And I agree with you too...to an extent. Apologies after the fact are aiight but credit & royalties are best in my opinion. Willie Dixon should not have had to take Led Zeppelin to court for his just due and it's shameful what the Rolling Stones stole from Big Mama Horton, Billy Preston, KD Lang, etc. plus several artists they plagarized who didn't sue them (and won).
I'll give you props Vanzeposmith910 and state we agree to agree, to a certain point.

The Delta Blues is the source of virtually every American and British popular music of the late 20th anniversary. It just touches your soul. its so real!

@Pirate7X I agree with you to an extent. They did "steal" songs by not crediting their works, but then again, they did apologize for their mistakes and credited people. Look at B.B. King's "How Blue Can You Get". He didn't write it, and now people consider it to be one of HIS most famous songs (though B.B. has said that he didn't write it). Truth is, Zep took it a bit too far with their borrowing. But they didn't completely blow off the original artists.

Everyone steals, its a fact of life. If you play the blues you can't honestly tell me that you don't incorporate BB King or Buddy Guy into your playing. Everyone borrows. Clapton stole, Beck stole, Page stole, hell the Beatles stole too. Led Zeppelin took great songs and played them their way. It doesn't make it theirs, but does the way and style you play the blues make it yours? No, because there is someone out there that plays like you do. Accept it.
