Our day with the Cobras

Here is the video of two original 1966 Shelby Cobras. No kit cars here. These are the real thing. What a rush.

Nice cars for sure, but I don't see the need to infer a bashing on the kit cars, afterall, were it not for the kit cars, I suspect many would not know what a Cobra is, or care for that matter.

Sorry if the video was taken as a bash on kit cars. I have no negative bias towards kits at all. My comments were to get across how rare these cars are and I admit when I first saw them in the garage I thought they were kits.

Just an FYI, the silver Cobra is not a 427. It is a 289. In addition, neither of them are competition cars. Both are street versions. Still rare and gorgeous

You are correct. The silver one is a 289 car. The engine in it isn't the original one but one he had built for more horsepower. It will easily outrun the big block car. If you hang out at VIR you might see it go by sometime.

Cool! I met Jim last year when my friend and I took pictures of his 427 for a project of ours. Very nice guy, and very nice cars.

I might suggest, since you're into the cars and want to showcase them, that you should have more video footage of the cars than of the owners.

Yea, I'm working on that. The day we shot this it was very cold and he has limited time. I wanted to get some background on the cars but unfortunately we weren't able to shoot as much as we wanted to of the cars themselves. I'm sure we will be getting together again for some more video time.
