Golden City Pipe Band Bendigo-2009 New Zealand Pipe Band Champions (Grade Four)

Golden City Pipe Band's first performance in New Zealand on 6th March 2009 was their MSR (March, Strathspey and Reel). The second performance shown is their Medley. Combined, these performances allowed GCPB to beat 22 other Grade Four Bands and win the 2009 Title. The next day the band came first in a street march competition through Christchurch (Grade Four) (not shown). Golden City had previously won the 2006 New Zealand Pipe Band Championships in Grade Four.

Mark my words - they are definitely on the 'up and up' - fairly new Pipe & Drum Majors, both experienced chaps. Also, some good young players coming along. The big fella out front has drawn several most complimentary remarks from judges and peers alike (the stuff of legends).

Prior to this competition season the band had'nt competed for a couple of years and they were relegated to Grade 4. There're a good bunch They'll be back up there one day.
