    Funny how back then (1940's) you could knock someone out who was asking for it, but if you said a swear you were in BIG trouble. Today you can say every curse word in the book and get away with it, but if you put your hand(s) on anyone, that's assault and battery, which means it's goes in your records and everyone thinks less of you.
