  • LOL facebook. facebook is huge now.

  • Facebook had 20 million users and was growing at 100,000 per day in June. These numbers have increased since then.

    Meanwhile, the Ivy League in total has less than 150,000 active faculty, students, and staff.

    To claim that Facebook is constrained to the Ivy League or to Eastern academia is preposterous: in two days, the site will add more 50,000 more people than the entire Ivy League in total.

  • Facebook penetration? You are talking about a very elite group of east coast high achievers by siting a data set that includes a Harvard freshman class. Facebook originated in the eastern collegiate environment, and that's the environment you placed your query. Just an observation as there's still 5 out of 6 billion of us are not even online...and those on the periphery may have surprises unanticipated within the Ivy incubation zone.
