This mission was my entry into the first ever Kerbal Cup Challenge, posted at:
http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/index.php?topic=1269.0

Mission goal: Deliver a Stellarcom Communications Satellite to as close to circular orbit as possible at 150,000 ± 250 metres altitude above Kearth sea level. Final known satellite orbit parametres were as follows:

Apokerb: 150,256 m
Perikerb: 149,512 m

Normally, a satellite would have its own orbital control thruster system, but KSP doesn't support such a thing yet; regardless, it would definitely be possible for satellite automation to stabilize the orbit to desired specification. As my entry was the closest to desired orbital parametres, it won the contest. :D

Otherwise successful mission was slightly marred by the fact that powered landing had to be aborted.

Full mission description and still images of the flight can be found at:

  • ur engines shook a lot on take off, shoulda put bracers to hold them :P

  • @Shuttheheckup735 Struts did not exist way back then. Back in the days, kerbals flew their rockets as they came - wobbly or solid. It was a game of skill, of panache, of style! Why, these days, anyone can build a huge stack that has as much struts as engines! Of course it will stay intact better! No challenge at all!

Now get off my lawn you young'un!
