  • Jay, the little hater is trying to keep you down

  • Gods yeah, I have that with writing. If I work on a story too long it feels like none of it has any meaning, the characters are behaving like aliens on acid, and I might as well have used a random text generator.

It really helps to put it away for a few days, and/or have somebody soundboard for me - I ask a friend to read and then ask questions. Not 'do you think it's good' but 'does what I want to bring across, come across' type questions. Through their perception I can figure out if it works.

  • Maybe your little hater is so powerful because you can't pronounce "caramel".

And yes, there is only one way to pronounce it, just like there is only one way to name a certain popular carbonated beverage, and that is "pop". I am a linguistic jingoist.

  • Yes! As a photographer/ graphic designer, this tends happen on bigger projects. After spending so much time on that one thing and all its tiny details, I stop seeing the bigger picture and would doubt whether its actually any good. Then, when its reviewed by others, I'm shocked by all the positive responses. S'nice to know that I'm not alone.

  • You are adorable. That happens to me too, both with my writing and my videos. I try to post both anyway and I get a lot of feedback from people who say, "I'm so glad you posted this even though you didn't love it. I learned this, this and this..." Sometimes we are not our own best judge. Sometimes we let our quest for perfection get in our own way. But if we wait til a thing is perfect, we may never share it, which means the world won't have it and we grow together when we share. Life is richer.

  • Yes- I'm posting this on my MetaHara (production co) FB page. The challenge I've found is in the need to promote something I am so completely over...get it into festivals and blah di blah. Thanks for the reminder that i is just part of the process.

  • You are not alone

  • ..this is why it’s always fun to watch/read/listen to your OLD stuff when you come to realize you weren't such a douche ass idiot after all

  • Whenever I try to make a beat sometimes I can't continue because of how long things can take

  • Well mr Illdoc i dont know if i like watching your videos LOL i jk if i dont watch one of your video i would be mentally ill

  • Its really hard to ignore what my little hater tells me :(
