Current progress of my project: Augmented Reality & Gaming.

Project info:

I'm trying to make Augmented Reality Gaming Controls for a Space-flying game. The game itself is made in Unity, Webcam capture happens in SIlverlight and the variables are passed to Unity via JavaScript.

This version: Modified laser and added homing missiles. Created custom explosions. Some minor tweaks. Added sound to explosions and laser/missile -fire (no audio in the video though). Added some markers to see how much health the enemy has left and its position (difficult to find the enemy without it).

Not in the video: Sound Effects

  • @ioulian Looking great! I'm wondering how you managed the glow on the engines? Is that just hte standard post processing glow effect? Also, how did you get lens flare on the torpedo/missiles? I thought flares had to be attached to lights.

  • @6BlackWings Hi, the missiles have a light with the lens flare on it ;) The glow on the engines is just a plane with a transparent texture on it :D

  • dude this is awesome

please tell me where you got the lens flare, or did you do it yourself?

  • @SpiMixRecordings thx, yes, the lensflares were made by me. Videocopilot has made a plugin for After Effects for making amazing lensflares, you can search for it on google ;)

  • @ioulian i know optical flares, i use it extensivly

do you have a tutorial or a method on how to do the bitmap file necesary for the lf?

  • @SpiMixRecordings docs.unity3d.ru/Components/class-Flare.html this is what I read. Then just play with some variables.

  • Those are some massive satellites! :P The 'space compression' trick is actually one that Freelancer used to make the galaxy into a manageable size, while still feeling massive. Looks pretty good!

  • @ioulian would you consider publishing your lf bitmap file? i have a faculty project but don't really have the time to make it

  • do a barrel roll

    XD

  • @Peteyslatts @Peteyslatts this is the tutorial I followed: interlopers. net/tutorials/28841, pretty good explanation there
