This video was taken directly underneath the cliffs at Cave Point on the Northern shore of the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada. Cave Point is about halfway between Tobermory and Cabot Head. The video doesn't do justice to the experience of floating beneath 200 foot cliffs, and at the same time looking down 40 to 50 feet through the crystal-clear waters below.

  • awesome clip showing the crystal clear water! i'm going up there again in the summer, with my kayak this time. is there a good spot to get into the water without carrying the kayak for too long ?

  • The closest put-in spot to these cliffs, and one recommended by a local kayaker, is at the end of Little Cove Road. The road is rough, and at the end it's fairly steep, and the beach is made of stones the size of softballs and soccerballs, so it's a little tricky carrying the kayak. But it's only 50 feet to the water, and it's a beautiful spot. Have fun!

  • nice video...how long does it take to kayak to this point from tobermory

  • From Cave Point to Tobermory's harbor boat ramp would be 9.7 mi(15.6 km), so how long the trip takes depends how fast you paddle! It also depends a lot on how closely you want to follow the shoreline, or if you are willing to cut across the larger coves. I didn't want to paddle 10 mi (20 mi round trip!) so instead of putting in at Tobermory I put in at Little Cove. From there to Cave Point is 6.2 mi (10 km) and so it took me about 2 hours of paddling at a leisurely but steady pace.
