I found that to be one of the most interesting things about this study. The Japanese (largely) seem to embrace films like Black Rain, and perpetuate the stereotypes portrayed by Hollywood. I am hoping to do a similar study with Hollywood and China, but will take the research further and also analyze the portrayal of America in Chinese cinema.

Yes, that is a fascinating portrayal of the Japanese. I decided not to use it because most of the film was made during the war, and I was trying to focus on purely post-war representations. Have you seen "The Purple Heart"? That's another classic!
