The New York Campaign of 1777 was the turning point of the American Revolutionary War.

But what was life really like in the Continental Army during this important campaign?

Find out in my short documentary.

  • 1:10... BAAHAHAHAHAHA!! omg. "Run away!!" "These guy's look mean!" Seriously... No wonder students find this stuff drab and boring. Jeez, if you want people to be interested in History, at LEAST have the visuals look the part. I mean, if you're a teacher, like me - For the love of whatever you hold dear; don't make your students watch this...

  • @jmn07965 I am just a college student. i had to work with the visuals at hand when i shot this. i could only film so much of this reenactment. all this film is original. i appreciate your feedback but you were very disrepectful in your response. i kno this part of the video isnt the most convincing but what can i do? its all i had to work with at the time. btw where is your video on the NY campaign of 1777??? i would like to see it since mine is apparently not appropriate to be shown to students

  • @PatrizioXC76

jmn07965 is not a teacher. There is nothing constructive in that post. He/she implies that he/she knows what the real troops looked like, but doesn't describe how they should look. I certainly HOPE this person isn't a teacher, anyway.

  • @KayBeeEee1983 thank you so much for this comment :)

  • Wow. I think this video is making fun of us rather then showing history. Everyone looks like they eat Micky D's seven times a day.

  • As a revolutionary war reenactor I must say that every reenactment will produce slightly different answers to questions but generally the same. I can gaurentee that you will learn more about specific topics and fine details then you will with any school history book.

  • i think its funny that when i saw the general the first name that came to mind was "Granny" Gates and when he talks its obvious he could care less about his men. i personally thank god that the congress did not replace General Washington with gates.

  • @SandNBones

i stopped reading after you said "american won this war"

  • @SandNBones Hey, a win is a win :D

  • where do you guys get your boots

  • @toxic2k7 The intended effect of mass musket fire was more psychological than physical. Do enough damage to scare the crap out of the enemy and make them run away. If that didn't work, the commanding officer would order a timely bayonet charge. The bayonet was the real killer in 18th century warfare.

  • @PatrizioXC76

Also, if they were a teacher they would probably know that in 1777 the Continental Army was undisciplined and poorly trained, indeed a joke of a fighting force. It wasn't until the arrival of Baron von Steuben in 1778 that the Army became legitimate. So this reenactment is, in fact, historically accurate.
