  • Does ANYBODY know the name of that owl that makes a distinctive 4-part call usually during the day/morning? It goes kind of like this: (Who, Who, Whoooo,Who) with a longer third "who". I live in Western Washington and have looked up great horned owls, Barred owls, barn owls, and screech owls, and still can't find it anywhere on the entire internet. It's very pretty and not very uncommon here. LabofOrnithology, do you know?

  • @youarelovedSOmuch Sounds like you are probably not hearing an owl but a Eurasian Collared Dove. This Eurasian species has spread rapidly across the continent in the last decade or so and can be found in your area now.

  • @TheKyleawesome

Actually I finally found out the one I was trying to describe. It was the call of the Mourning Dove. It is so very beautiful.

  • @youarelovedSOmuch its a barred owl

  • How did you know the Chickadees weren't vocalizing in response to your presence?? Maybe the trick to finding E. Screech Owls is to mimic them by squinting!!

  • @JINKY114

No, I finally found out that's it's a morning dove call.

  • @youarelovedSOmuch sounds like a Barred Owl (Who, who, who coooks for youuuu?)

  • I've only ever seen captive Screech-Owls. I hope I get to see a wild one, even if they're rare.

  • I saw a screech owl in Colorado sunning itself in a tree cavity...I was amazed to see it...it hid when I walked by...but i went back to see it...it peered out at me...perched motionless and allowed me a few pictures...we are back in NJ now and we hear them often, but have yet to spot another

  • Fantastic, informative video. Nicely presented.
