  • Nice video!

    Instead of using 70% alcohol, can I just use the 91% alcohol and balance it out with drops of distilled water???

    Greetings from Germany

  • @Hexenhammer667 sure should work good luck!

  • yeah, I think i'll just buy it, it's MUCH cheaper....

  • the wax in this vid is enough too make like 100 lamps, the alcohol is a little spendy the bottles are kinda free cuz they are so easy too get from people who buy them would otherwise just throw them away. the dyes go long ways. so i guess if i spend a hundred bucks i can make every color como you can imagine.

  • DAMN IT! i knew i should have kept my sobe bottles. now they're plastic:(

  • @12booked ya but you cant put an animal on your desk make it stay all the time and watch it when your board at your computer....unless its a fish but i rather watch a grooving lava lamp:D

  • @rustichan just dont heat it up with the cam sealed

  • @Hexenhammer667 OR just use water, epsom salt, and a couple drops of dish soap. worked for me replacing my fluid

  • has blurred the liquid that I made that I can clean it or should I do it again from the beginning;

  • BTW, any concerns about the glass breaking under heat? I've heard of this happening when people try to heat a real lava lamp on a hot plate or in boiling water...

  • Awesom solution to the lava lamp problem. It looks like paraffin has a density of 0.83g/mL at 71.1 degC (slightly below melting point) and 0.0.80g/mL at 82.2 deC (close to boiling point of isopropyl alcohol. Pure isopropyl alcohol has a density of 0.786g/mL and 70% isopropyl alcohol...0.87g/mL at room temp. (BTW, the airspace in my lava lamp base is 76.6 degC at steady after 4hrs.) I like the idea of using oil pastels for coloring te paraffin. Thanks for the video!

  • i dont even like lava lamps im mean their cool but my favorite thing in the world is animals

  • hi i made one of theese and my lava lamp wax just sets at the bottom i added the 70 but it still sets at the bottom
