What happened at the Southern Steps?

We're here at the Southern Steps of the temple. These are the steps where Jesus would have walked, where He would have entered the temple as well. The steps to the left are reconstructed, but these steps in front of us are the original steps. The original gates are now covered up, but you can see the corner of the arches, and again on this side there are three arches, and this is where Jesus would have walked, and where a couple of the stories in the Bible talk about Jesus on the steps entering the temple.
