yeah i would suggest it if you want a helmet like masterchief or a phantom of the opera type mask but for a mask like a zombie or sumthing use liquid latex
I have done casting for the better part of 6 years now and I can tell you that if he didn't overfill the mold, air pockets or voids would occur in his parts, especially those deeper indentations in the mold.
Though I must say, he did overfill by quite a bit, but then he pays for the excess that goes to waste.

Always work on a waxed glass surface.
