Should There Be A Female Link or Maybe a Game Starring Zelda?

Thought this was an interesting topic. I truly can see how having the option of a female Link within the franchise could be cool. I do think that Zelda would make for a great leader character instead though, what do you all think?

Seriously, there's no other reason why people want to see that outside of fan service. Damn you rule 63 of the internet, stop fucking with iconic characters! My opinion is that they should make a game with Zelda as the main protagonist or a completely new character and leave Link's dick alone! (Seriously people, a female Link? That would fuck up both the character and everything else about the franchise!)

I'm going to be the odd one here and say that yes, I would love to have a female Link in an upcoming Zelda game. As much as I would love to see a Zelda game where it's Zelda's turn to rescue Link, I feel that we need more strong silent female heroes. Ones that doesn't make a big deal out of them being female. Like Samus, before Other M.

Almost every Link is a seperate character anyway, so I don't see why the heroic legacy can't be passed on to a girl.

I think there should be an official Zelda game designed by Nintendo which lets you play as Zelda. I also think future Zelda games which star Link should let the player decide Link's gender. I don't think of Link as a set-in-stone character like Samus or Mario, I think of Link as that guy in the Zelda games who you can usually pick a name for. I'm also a guy who likes to play as girls.

*spoiler alert if you haven't played OOT* i would play OOT but from Zelda's point of view. but start the gameplay where she trains to become Shiek and go from there. you would meet link once and a wile and you would rescue Ruto from under the ice at the water temple and stuff like that.
