l asked, why are there not the same people doing movies in Nigeria now? the language is clear for all to understand, acting is on point, depicting the whole story / concept in the book is incredible! such a far cry from today's movie making!

@BESMBOI I don't overstand your point there, my friend.
Are you impying that a Republic is different from a Democracy? Or are you suggesting that they are mutually exclusive terms? I tell you, a Republic can also be a Democracy. Perfect example is Nigeria. Federal Republic of Nigeria is a Democracy, seen? Good.

@Tampinu THEY ARE IN THE FORM OF A REPUBLIC NOT DEMOCRACY......NO ONE MAN HAS A SAY SO THE PEOPLE CHOOSE WHICH IS A REPUBLIC

Not about liking war, pls! I love the sublime egalitarian and outstandingly republican nature of the Igbos. Go to the Bible book of 1 Sam 10:20 "Then Samuel had each tribe come forward..." More, read Deut. 1 & 21 for the case being discussed here. Achebe's book is congruent to the realities of the Igbo as Jews.

Thiese are the ways of our people which we are abandoning with impunity.

Chinua Achebe remains Africa's greatest writer. His book, "Things Fall A Part" is a masterpiece.
About the heads to be found, I would say they were generally those of notorious enemies. Let me joke, for example, that of Mr Bush the dictator who has managed to walk of out of office a free man, after exterminating thousands of innocent Iraki children, women and men.

To Ifeanyi2: Killing or cutting of people's head is not only peculiar to the Igbos.. Remember the Benin for instance uses peoples head to bury their kings not sure if they still do it now, but I still know someone that disappeared there and never to be found again. because he travelled to Benin with his long hair during the time it was said that the king died and no one was allowed to carry hair...
Not to defend such 'barbaric' but it belongs to history just like slavery..etc..
At 2:37 we can hear the man say "The majority have spoken...and so shall it be"
So I wonder WHO says the white man brought DEMOCRACY to Africa? Africans were living well established democratic social systems before the white man came with the Gun and Bible, nah true?
