FOR REAL - The Saddest Song I Ever Heard

For Real - Was a female R&B quartet formed in 1993. They Tried to Originally get signed in 1986 but was unsuccessful. When they finally did get signed, it happened by accident. Apparently The Group decided to greet their manager at the Airport with an Accapella rendition of a song. It *just* happened to be that a representative from A&M records heard them singing and soon they were signed.

After getting signed they releasing their first album, It's a Natural Thang A&M Records. (As a side note and *HUGE* Take 6 Fan myself, I discovered back then that the Acapella Single of For real - 'You Dont know Nothing' was written and produced by Mr. Mervyn Warren- Formally of Take 6)

The group went on to record on other Soundtracks of the films Waiting to Exhale and Fled respectively. Four real Member(s) included:
Wendi Williams
Latanyia Baldwin
Josina Elder
Necia Bray

In January 1997 the band won an American Music Award for their work on the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack, in Summer 1997, the group earned a Soul Train Award nomination for Album Of The Year (By A Group, Band Or Duo) for "Free".

In 1999 Wendi Williams of For Real lent her voice to the Oscar nominated film Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, with Halle Berry, in which Berry plays a singer but Wendi Williams is behind her singing voice.[9]

In 2002, their song "Love Will Be Waiting At Home", appeared in the movie, Two Can Play That Game, that starred Vivica A. Fox & Morris Chestnut.

In 2009 Cory Lavel began to work with Josina Elder on her new album.
