See link above. I added more info to the video.

I wasn't able to roll my r's until I was about 22 years old. I was trying to learn Spanish and I was discouraged because I couldn't make the sound at all. I looked online for a video that told me how to do it, but I couldn't find anything helpful, so once I learned how to make the sound I decided to make a how-to-learn video. I learned two different ways to make the sound and I'm going to tell you how I learned them.

  • @russkijjazyk96 It makes you "feel" smart. "Feel" smart. lol

  • @bodinian

yeah i think you're right because when i was younger i has difficulties to pronounce your r's because it's so soft that i was like a semivowel for me , i pronounced spanish r

but with effort i got it and now (i think) i pronounce almost correctly

  • @russkijjazyk96 It is because the English language is spoken with hard consonants and a stiff tongue. We are not trained tongue flexibility when we learn English.

  • I did it by squeezing my cheeks onto the back of my tongue, letting the front of my tongue free outside of the cheek squeeze zone, and then using my neck muscles to force air through my throat as if I was trying to yell. I did this with the word "Carro" until, after a years of trial and error, it came out correct. The reason it is so difficult for English speakers to trill is because our language trains us to enunciate with a stiff tongue. We must loosen our tongues in order to trill.
