New York Times best-selling author and historian Dr. Stephen Mansfield talks about the Jewish/Roman, first-century historian of priestly and royal ancestry who recorded the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD... and also wrote about an extraordinary rabbi by the name of Jesus:
"Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the Gentiles."
An excerpt from "The Real Jesus: A Defense of the Historicity & Divinity of Christ" - a documentary film produced by The Apologetics Group and hosted by Eric Holmberg.

The term Jesus was not used in Josephus' time.

@lizazoon Yes it is because it's used as a personal name not a title, and , at that time, the Christians were said to have turned the world upside down because they were preaching the message of Chrestus, Christ to the world.Plus, a lot of what has been recorded about this figure, is also confirmed in the gospels, like Jesus being take to Pilate for instance. You have a nice day now, may the Lord lead and bless you=]

@GodLovesUs100 Did you read what Suetonius wrote? How can that be a testimony to the authenticity of Christ ? Here it is :
:"As the Jews were making constant disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus, he [ Claudius ] expelled them [the Jews] from Rome".
It is not even sure that Chrestus was Christ .

@GodLovesUs100 What does Plinus the younger say in his report to Rome? That there is a sect called christians, and he ask his superior how do deal with them. WHat does that prove ? If I write a letter today to my brother in Europe, their are Mormoms here, does that mean mormonism is right ? Everybody knows there were christians after Christ`s death. You call that a testimony for christ ?

@Synth3t1cs Many dispute that Christ ever existed., and the lack of outside evidence for such a miracle worker certainly points in that direction.

@lizazoon I have yes, heard what many of them had to say.The fact the Joesephus' writings have been tampered with is just pure speculation, there is doubt about. And even so, there are still the other witnesses besides him.You can't just assume something for one person and then apply it to all other cases, it's no wonder why no honest scholar rejects the idea of Jesus' existence,it's irrefutable.

@GodLovesUs100 No I amnot kidding you. Did you ever read what all those supposed witnesses wrote ? It means really nothing. You must know that Josephus text has been tampered with. There is no doubt about it. This raises the question, what other texts were altered to fit in with the christian faith ?.

@lizazoon Are you kidding me?There is Josephus,Tacitus,Pliny The Younger,Suetonius,Celsus ,ect...Now, if this was any other person in history, people would have no problem accepting the facts but since this is Jesus, people are lead to only scoff.Which just reconfirms that his message was so true that many cannot handle it because it exposes their sinful ways.

@GodLovesUs100: The outside, independant evidence for Jesus is so minimal as to be negligeable. This said, there seems to be evidence in Jewish history of a man Joshua, who was condemned to dead for rebellion. But his does in no way prove the validity of the salvation story.

There is more evidence for the existence of Christ and his impact that probably more than any other figure in history.People have no problem accepting someone like an ancient king or important figure from writings based on them but when it comes to Jesus, all of a sudden Christianity is guilty until proven innocent. This, for me, just confirms the validity of it all for their injustice proves the very words of Jesus-especially about hardened hearts.Lord bless
