^^ Original video and more info about what this is.

This is the demo Youscope played back using an oscilloscope made with Native Instruments Reaktor. The demo waveform was played back with Winamp and fed back to the sound input, and into Reaktor. Most of the effects look like complete crap, however it goes to show that Reaktor can be used as an oscilloscope.

This is the waveform for the demo:

Soundtrack for the demo:

(Highly recommended since I recorded this without sound)

Pouët entry, for comments on the demo as such.

  • Hi, any chance you have this ensemble/instrument laying around and are willing to share? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

  • The oscilloscope itself is part of the factory library. In the top level, right click, insert instrument, analyzers and displays, XY scope. Connect 1 & 2 to X & Y. Go into the structure and find the XY. In its properties check "always active". If needed add "Invert, -x" modules to X and/or Y.

  • Setting the input sample rate to 48000 instead of 44100 will give you much cleaner visualisation...

  • Thanks for the advice. I should've thought of matching the Reaktor sample rate to the FLAC sample rate myself. Darn! :)

The result when using 48k is better, but the noisiest parts still look a bit ugly. Increasing the fade time helps a little, but also makes the scrollers less readable.

  • My scope/card won't play this back too well, but if the speed(sample rate) is lowered by 1/2, it does a lot better.

  • Somthing I've found today, is that the quality of the soundcard is important... I've tried using the NI Reaktor demo here at work today, and the built in sound card of my work pc is really crap... My audigy card at home gives a flawless replay of the demo... the onboard sound of my work pc is all over the place... ugh.
