This is the BBC Reconstruction of the missing Doctor Who Episode - The Tenth Planet - episode 4 that was released on VHS in 2000. The presentation of this missing episode was not as i would have liked with the video shrinking to the middle of the screen and the captions scrolling under it. Here i have resized the video to full screen and re-added the captions over the top of the video in the style of the fan made Loose Cannon recons. All copyright is BBC.

  • It always strikes a chord with me, seeing beloved William Hartnell go like that.

After all, he was "THE DOCTOR", & the rest were other doctors. He was the man who made it work, & without his belief in the show, it would never have worked.

Thank you for uploading this. It is probably the most Valuable DW sequence EVER.

RIP William Hartnell. The original Doctor WHO. <3

  • youre right! eithout hartnell, this incredible series would never of been so successful.

  • The first Cybermen were ace in billions of ways, and also they were not Peter Davisons favouritew look of the Cybermen.

  • I remember when I witnessed my first Who regeneration. I was just like "WTF?! Did his FACE just EXPLODE?!?!" Ah...good times.....

  • That was the first regeneration and allway wanted to see it and now i have.

  • This doctor probaly was the only one who died of old age.

  • im guessing hartnell's departure wasnt made public back when this aired so as to make a bigger surprise

  • It's nice that despite all those lost episodes from the Hartnell and Troughton years that the first regeneratioin scene still exists.

  • Must have been some sight, Hartnell turning into Troughton!

  • Heh, so for kids. Nothing wrong with that. They used to make live action drama for kids; but not since the 70s, really. Today's generation looks at something like this and can't figure out why it's so rinky dink. Well, it's for kids. They used to make kids shows that were live drama. But, it didn't take long to figure out that you can make more money with lowest common denominator appeal, and that over grown teenager fanwank means you can have young and old watching crap sci/fi.

  • Blimey, I bet this is going to bring back any memories for anyone who watched it.

  • Finally! The first regeneration, when William Hartnell transforms into Patrick Troughon. Troughton became the second Doctor.
