Trolleybuses in the city of Luoyang

Luoyang is a prefecture-level city in western Henan province, People's Republic of China. Situated on the central plain of China, one of the cradles of the Chinese civilization, Luoyang was one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China.

The city owns a small trolleybus network of 3 routes which serve as trunk transit lines for this medium sized city.

All rolling stock of this network are Shanghai made trolleybuses. This video is centred on the famous articulated trolleybus model SK561 which was once the most employed trolleybus model in China.

This articulated model has since been fully retired from the fleet and been replaced by newer rigid trolleybuses, also made in Shanghai.

very funny looking trolleybuses. I am used to European ones which are fatter (like the Soviet ones). These recently made or made a while ago?

These were made since the 70's and became very popular in Chinese cities in the 80's all the way through early 90's.

Now, you can't see them anymore. They have been phased out and replaced by newer & more modern looking trolleybuses. Just be glad that they are still electric trolleys.

very smart of keeping the trolleybus routes. Build a tram system to reduce pollution even more in this city and elsewhere in China!.
