From the T-Rex website...

Shimmering, rich, vibrant, swirling. There are lots of ways to describe the chorus effect, made famous in the 80s and used today by just about every guitarist on the planet. A chorus brings your sound to life, adding a dynamic vibrancy to the sonic texture of any song you use it on. Now, T-Rex Engineering is proud to introduce our own take on this legendary effect The Twister, a chorus and flanger pedal for guitarists who demand nothing less than the best.

Did you say chorus and flanger?

We sure did. Although they sound quite different, these two classic effects are so closely related that a single pedal can produce them both. We could have taken the usual path and built two separate units, but we wanted to give you both great effects in a single box. While the chorus adds sparkle and shine to your sound, the flanger puts a funky twist on both chords and single-note lines. Give it a try, and discover how its the wild and weird effect youve been looking for.

Designer tone just the way you want it!

The Twister is packed with features that make sure you get chorus or flange your way. It has a mono output for running through an amp on stage, and stereo outputs for the studio or live stereo setups. In chorus mode, the light/heavy switch lets you quickly switch between two classic variants of the chorused sound, while the brilliant Tone control lets you take some of the top off for a more subtle effect. And rest assured: like every pedal T-Rex makes, The Twister sounds phenomenal any way you use it.

Features

•Switchable between Chorus and Flanger
•Light/Heavy switch
•Variable input level with status LED on the side
•Controls: DEPTH, RATE, REGENERATION, TONE and LEVEL
•Mono Input, Stereo Outputs
•Runs on battery or with power adaptor

Recording details:

My trusty Laney has developed a strange 'tick' (could be a refrigerator or something) and the bassman's at the office.

So..

I resorted to the wondrous IK Multimedia Amplitube Fender for the single Twin clip and to Softube's Vintage Amp Room for the stereo clip. Both used fantastic Twin emulations, basically set to clean, and both with emulated 57's jammed up close. On the stereo clip I added a little Waves Maserati to bring out some presence but the mono version remained as it was.

The metal amp was a 5150 model and old Marshall cab loaded with greenbacks (again, a model) from Amplitube Metal, another great piece of software and one that I helped them write presets for.

To tame the input signal I run a Waves/PRS analog interface before the M-Audio ProFire. It just does something to the impedance load that puts things into a 'real world' amp input place. Cheap too. The best current example of this technology would be the True Z input on Digidesign's new Eleven Rack. Now there's a great piece of kit. One day I'll run a demo of it as well.

Hey, thanks for watching.

Special thanks to Michael, Ditte and Sebastian at T-Rex Denmark. They've got a new fan in me.

Cheers,

Burgs and Sadie. :)

  • Love the chord in minute 3:16. What is it?

  • @MrBaro1993 I think that's the old classic G7sus4?

  • Great Video - any info or hint about the setup?

I use my T-Rex Reptile in my FX loop (which seems to dim volume and brigthness for me) and the Twister in front - any good or would you recommend another setting?

I use a PS Custom 24 into an Marshall JVM 205C

    Thanks in advance!

  • @MrBerglmir Howdy, there's a ton of info in the 'info' section of this video (directly below the video screen itself. Hope it helps. Let me know if you need more info. My general rule is - whatever works for you. There are no rules. Experiment and make the choice with your ears.
