See lots more MRSR HQ color footage at http://vimeo.com/channels/joelstraintv. Here's something a little different. I ran most of these scenes through an old-time movie filter so that it appears to be archival footage. It begins in color then morfs to gray-scale then ends in color. Footage is from 1996.

  • @6995133 a lot of oil!!

  • This was GRRRRRRRRRRR8 I love it . I always wanted to see #10's little sister # 9 at the B.C. Forest muesum operate she is on static display . I think you did an awsome job of this and i am looking forward to watching the rest of your videos thanks for posting this

  • sad thing is that well 1 only 2 of the 4 steamers you see are still in operation but the #10 and #91 arent used alot is mainly the newly restored #70 and #2

  • @6995133 black smoke is caused when too much oil is burned

  • what fuel are they burning to cause so much black smoke ?

  • well...at least if one loco breaks down, you still can keep going.........great showing of steam power

  • @hollywood1340 Preservation is wonderful.

Justhat FOUR engines pulling FOUR cars iso ridiculous.

Nothat many passengers - if those in gondola indicate.

  • @robertgift Obviously you don't understand what a "Special Event" or how it's the draw of these events that keep these locomotives paid for. I'm sorry the business of railway preservation is "Absurd" and that you fail to grasp it. It's okay. You don't have to. Those of us who do and actually DO it don't require you to.

  • @hollywood1340 Simply use ONE locomotive at a time. This was absurd and even lookstupid. What a waste.

To keep them all exercised, use a different locomotive each week.

  • @robertgift Seeing these locomotives run is not needless waste. The "pollution" put out is nothing compared to an hour on a four lane highway. And with any machinery to keep it in top form you need to run it. I see excellent preservation in this video.
