The Stamp River in Port Alberni BC is a famous steelhead river. It has legends of double digit hookups for winter run steelhead. Hoping I would have good fortune, I took a week off of work and went to try my luck. Sadly, the weather turned very poor and the fishing suffered. I got skunked on the Stamp. This is just how it goes, and that's fishing. Sometimes you catch fish, sometimes not.
Man this really reminded me of why im so happy spring is getting closer, fished the shit all winter hiked the niagara gorge in 40 cm snow, waded freezing water in leeky waders and popped ice out of my guides 15000 times and broke a rod in the process. Now im all set up and ready to fish higher warmer water once that time rolls around. Good on you for toughing it out though, most people wouldnt. Keep plugging away and enjoy the other 999 casts!

Sounds familiar, I'm still working on catching my first steelhead. School is getting in the way of my fishing.

Sorry to hear, that. Stamps a pretty hard river to fish on foot.
